Devil's Lake, Eau Claire, Gary-or-Michigan City

My wife and I are taking a trip from Brandon, MB to Windsor, On. Does anyone have any feedback for kid friendly Boler spots in any of the following locations?

1. Devil's Lake, ND
2. Eau Claire, Wisconsin
3. Gary, Indiana OR Michigan City Indiana

We prefer being surrounded by trees and access to swimming if possible. Thanks for the input!

We've camped at a couple Wisconsin state parks and have found them very nice with spacious sites. We camped recently at Willow River State Park north of Hudson (this is about 1/2 hour west of Eau Claire) and liked it a lot. I would recommend the 300 campground, not the 100 or 200 (no trees in these). From the campsite we had we could easily walk to the swimming beach and the playground. The 300 campground is heavily wooded. In fact, we would have had a hard time getting to our site with all the trees and the narrow roads if we had a huge camper.
