Last Saturday I finished rebuilding the rotted out taillight assemblies for the CT about 5:45 in the afternoon. By 7:15 we were camping in a state park with a beautiful evening.
One of the problems with the
UHaul that I bought last October was the rubber taillight assemblies inside the lenses and body were breaking up. I ended up using black silicon sealant (the messy stuff) to rebuild the parts, finally using the body and lenses as moulds. Then I wired it up and finally have turn signals, brake
lights and taillights again. The
UHaul is now road worthy.
After testing the
lights, Patti said "LETS GO CAMPING"! We ate a quick dinner, grabbed our camping gear, loaded up our two pups and drove to Camp Croft State Park which is only a bit over 10 minutes from the house. Being the first really warm spring weekend there was only three sites left, so we chose one and made camp. This was our first night in a camper, we had always used a tent. It was a learning experience, and we figured out some do's and don'ts and things to bring next time.
Camp Croft State Park is a pretty nice spot to camp with hookups and clean bath and shower facilities for only $18 dollars and change. There is a big horse presence at the park with several large horse trailers/camping rigs throughout the campsite. There are also some good hiking and mountain bike trails throughout the park and on adjacent lands. If you need something from the city, you are only 15 minutes from downtown Spartanburg, SC.
We are looking forward to the next trip!
