FL Keys

We usually take the FL toll rd when we travel to the FL Keys, about three trips ago we came home by Highway 27, will never do that again, way too much stop and go. Our next rip whenever that is we are wanting to take I-75 to Highway 41 then rd 997 to US1. If anyone has tried this let me know how the roads are. I'm really tired for paying over $100.00 for the round trip on the toll road. If it was a good road well ok, it is really rough as a cobb in a lot of places not to mention all the construction that never gets done.

From which point A to which point B you need to travel? I live in south Florida, travel a lot and could give some advises.

Just call point a the junction of I-10/I-75 and point B is Marathon FL. The only thing I like about the turnpike are the fuel stops.

I-75 to Weston-> US27 south -> FL 997 -> US1 will be the fastest route. Only one cheap toll segment on the horizontal part of I-75. The I-75->US41->FL997 as you proposed will be the most scenic route if you take some roadside stops along US41. I love that area.

I took 27 once and there was way too much stop and go for me. Thanks for the information. Are the highways I mentioned as rough as the turnpike? I usually tow at 65 MPH but some sections on the turnpike that will beat you to death.

To be honest, I never drove on FL turnpike :-) I prefer small side roads. The pavement on I-75/US-41 is good, there is no much traffic as on FL east coast roads. FL 997 was improved recently, but there could be some bad segments in the Homestead area.
