generators

I do about half "dry camping" and half campground camping. Does anyone know of a list of campgrounds that do not allow generators? Thanks

Most of the campground directories will say if generators are allowed, but its a variable, as some places such as Organ Pipes Nat Mom allows them in the hottest weather but not otherwise (and I think that is local decision and possibly not on the web site)

Here in the east, some campgrounds allow them in certain loops (during specified hours), for example Smokemont campground in Great Smoky Mtns NP has loops that allow them, other loops not allowed.

A comprehensive listing would be difficult to get accurate.

I doubt a list like that exists, as each place that might allow them also might have several restrictions on when you can use them and where you can use them.
Here is just one example of a campground in the Smokies (Elkmont), that allows them, but not on all sites an not at all times.
"Quiet hours are in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Generator use is restricted to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Generators may not be left running unattended. Generator use is prohibited from May 15 through October 31 in loops A, B, L, M and N."

I suspect the best way to find up-to-date information on whether a campsite allows generators is to call them and ask or see if they list any info on their website.

We have found a lot of.camp grounds have 2 x 2 hour generator windows. One in the morning and one around supper. We quite often miss them as we are out touting or hiking. In a pinch we just plug it into the Tesla and leave the Tesla in Camp mode. Works well but sucks up about 5 percent of the battery overnight so we don’t do it unless we have to.

The 2x2 hour windows sound like an improvement. Thanks.

Organ Pipe FYI

To clarify, Organ Pipe Cactus NM allows generators in the winter in most of the campground except for designated rows. We've never been there in the summer so I can't speak to that. But the two southern-most rows (tent only) and the next 4 rows are all no generators. The rest of the campground has restricted hours of operation. We camp there every winter and can attest to it being quiet (and gorgeous) in those southern rows.
