This didn't seem to go anywhere first time around, but I still think it's a great idea. We're a little off the beaten track on one of the Gulf Islands in Canada, but we can make it work if anyone wants to see this beautiful corner of the world.

Marje and I also believe this is a good idea. We are listed as hosts on the Casita site and have used other hosts when we went to Alaska and Canada. In the years we have been Hosts only one person ever used our invitation. With the cost of and noise of many campgrounds I would think a free stayover would be a good way to meet people in other areas and save a few bucks. We are just south of I90 in North East Ohio. The trips we have taken and were hosted have been the most informative and enjoyable. Last years trip to Northern Ontario we were hosted by a couple who had sold their Casita years ago but still put us up by their Cottage on a beautiful lake. We have 26 quiet acres and just 4miles from the interstate. The saying around here is" the latch key is always out."

Overnight in our driveway. Only drawback is its a narrow one car drive with a slight dip at the end. It can be a little tricky to get in/out when towing. Would love to meet others with fiberglass campers. It will help us with the ideas for the remodel of ours.

Hi,
We're looking for a place to camp close to Agua Dulce, CA in mid-February for a month or 2 while I volunteer at an animal sanctuary. None of the parks nearby seem to fit our style - too many amenities, too crowded, etc. Does anyone know of a place we can dry camp in that area? We are willing to pay for a space, just want a quiet, safe place to spend some time.

Sewer: no, nearest dump station at South Whidbey State Park

I'm across the street from the beach, dog friendly, place to launch kayaks in back of cabin, sandy driveway for parking relatively small RV. PM or email me. (The level spot is sandy so not good if you would worry about getting stuck; my Campster is fine there but it is lighter.)

We would thoroughly appreciate being able to stay a night or two at a gracious hosts' place someday, so will pay it forward now:

Location: 15 acres of woods 1/2 hour south of Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota; 1/2 hour west of Grand Casino; 1 hour north of greater Mpls./St. Paul

Electric: 115v/15 or 20 amp.

Water: yes, but hook-up not likely at this time (either way, fill your tank with wonderful well water)

Sewer: not on site (will research for local dumps)

Recreation: many lakes and rivers nearby, a nice walking/biking trail in the city limits as well as a short nature trail at the local museum (and an even shorter one on our property -- with lots of wildlife!)

Hosting strangers for overnighting is a little too daring for me, but I think the idea of being willing to give advice and opinions to visitors is a wonderful idea. I know if anyone is passing through Northwest Florida I can give all sorts of advice on nice campgrounds, things to see and do, restaurants, etc. Maybe there would be enough interest for another string just dealing with people willing to give guidance to visitors?

I see it as a "subforum" like "meets", etc.
We could call it " Trip Planning:Ask the Locals" or something and people could write in and start a thread by telling us where they're going...

If I am home I can accommodate one(1) trailer at a time in the parking lot at the end of the building for two(2) nights. Unfortunately hookups and water will not be available but laundry for a loonie [$] and hot showers [my apt.] are. 2 minutes to the Newfoundland T'Railway.
Gander is a full service community. We have Canada's only Wullenweber Antenna array, an Aviation Museum, a Demonstration Forest, walking trails, shopping, tourism office, a memento of the Twin Towers [9/11], campsite, the only War Graves Commisssion cemetery in Canada. Salmon [licence req'd] and trout fishing and many other interesting things to keep you busy.
