Hot Springs Campground - Hot Springs, NC

A really nice campground, in this cool little Appalachian Trail town. The campground is on the French Broad River, right across the street from the mineral bath/spa. We stayed this past Friday and Saturday nights...hiking during the day, good campfire food at night, and a 1 hour session in the mineral baths. Ironically there was a Scamp 16' two sites down from us! The campsites were a bit pricey ($40) but included electricity and were right on the water. Location, location, location. Hot Springs has a really cool history, too, the rise and fall of a town, picked up again by eco-tourism. Recommended!

stuff to do in Hot Springs....

Hot Springs for a week in September sounds great! Some other cool things to do: 1) visit the Hot Springs! you can rent one of the tubs overlooking the river... I thought it would be kind of hokey, but it was GREAT!; 2) hike - or if you're not into that, at least drive up to Max Patch bald; 3) eat at the Smoky Mountain Diner - on Saturday mornings, they have homemade cinnamon buns/rolls that are to die for - when they run out, they're out!; 4) it's also interesting just to walk around Hot Springs, read up on the very interesting history of this Appalachian Trail mountain town.
