With family in western Iowa I have been running across on both 20 and 30 for the past 50 years. It's just not the same now, and maybe that's a good thing.

We take 20 quite often when we go west. It’s mostly 4 lane now and recently resurfaced a lot of places.

I grew up three blocks from highway 30, lived on Lincolnway (30) in Ames, lived in Council Bluffs for 8 years where 30 was the Main Street through town. Then back to Cedar Rapids three houses off of the Lincoln Highway and now 1/2 mile south of 30 and the Lincoln. The story of my life could be “A Highway Runs Through It.” Lived in a few other states but ended up 15 miles from where I was born.
