Idaho planning

In late September I'll be heading west across Idaho. What weather conditions can I expect between Butte and Spokane the last week in September? I know there are year to year variations, but in general...?
I'll be leaving from Milwaukee about the 20th then probably going to Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Billings and so forth.
Seems to me it will be a beautiful drive with fall colours.
Any travel related advice would appreciated

I'm in BC, 10miles north of the border 2 to 3 hrs north of Spokane.
It will be cooler at higher elevations, good chance of moisture but usually just showers though you can see soakers.
Spokane is a drier area than where I am too
Generally we still expect pretty decent weather.
I don't have any experience in the Boise area.

I live in Pullman (south of Spokane) and I'll second what Fred said. Expect cool temperatures in the higher elevations and you might get rain. Generally the weather is nice. Our church has a woman's retreat in Post Falls the last weekend of September and the weather is usually very nice although we did have one time where it rained all weekend.

You should have a nice trip.

If your cyclists check out the Hiawatha trail.
An old rail line with several tunnels and tressels.
I haven't done it yet, on to do list might not be open that late.
Right along I90 at Montana, Idaho border.
