My 12 YO grandson is coming to visit for a week this month. I am trying to figure out a nice short drive trip.
I have never been to Joshua Tree National Park and it is only about 250 miles from my home.
Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Ian and Paddy stayed at Jumbo Rock.... Travels with Ian, Paddy, Gypsey and Rubea II

Here's another quote about Jumbo Rocks, from the Legacy Posts:

Monday morning we are heading for Joshua Tree National Park. A fairly short drive away for a couple of nights of boon dock camping. We especially like the area called "Jumbo Rocks". It is located in the middle of the park with many interesting sights to visit nearby.

I have never actually spent the nite there, but have been in all the campgrounds. Winter is popular.. very popular. Jumbo Rocks collects rock climbers. (Go figure)

There is lots of color and I am sure fun exploring for a kid to do.

Yes, be careful, the snakes abound.

Thanks gina, I will.
I don't know if we will be going down there. Julian called this afternoon and asked if the quads were ready to go. He wants to explore the ATV trails up on the Kern Plateau.
If we don't get any snow before Thanksgiving we may just go up there.
Maybe I will drive down to Joshua Tree by myself to recoup after a week of riding quads.
