Keaton Beach Camping report

Last week I stayed at Keaton Beach’s Old Pavalion RV Park in Florida. This is in the “Big Bend” on the gulf and is very much “The Old Florida”. The park is small and you are either on the Gulf of Mexico, or a canal that flows into the gulf Park owner is great and will help with anything you need. The bathhouse and restrooms were very clean. Check it out at http://www.oldpavilionrvpark.com/

Shelia the cat went with me and it was a good thing. I went one whole day without hearing a human voice. There is no fast food, no stores except a gas/grocery store (well stocked), but if you want the natural beauty, this is the place to visit. I went scalloping one morning, came back and shucked them and cooked them that night for supper. The water is very clear and great for snorkeling. I went kayaking every day, soaked in the sun, and had a relaxing great time. I only had one small problem. Shelia did not want to leave to come home. The cat has good taste. Had to drag her out from under camper next door and deposit her in the truck.

What a pretty cat! (I love cats. I'm a mailman.)

I'll have to put that campground on our list. I also love scallops!

Did the kitty go out and catch you a gator?

Gina some fiddler crabs was Shelia's big catch of the day. She did paddle in the Gulf a little.

The Beach Itself?

Hi - I've seen descriptions of the few RV parks there, but having trouble finding descriptions of the actual beach there. I'm a beach guy. Would I be happy staying there or disappointed? I like the quiet, and it looks like the fishing is good. Thanks for your post. Drc

Hi Greg, welcome to FiberglassRV... we're glad you're here

What model/brand of all molded towable are you shopping for?

Hi Donna, I have a Casita Spirit Deluxe 17' I recently bought and am making some modifications on. I plan to head south some time in March and am looking at places in Georgia and Florida. I was interested in the Keaton Beach area hence my question about how good the beach itself was. Greg

Susan,

Chatting with another RVer at a rest stop, he said Keaton Beach was a great place. Their web site showed trailers lined up right next to each other though. Was that actually the case?

Denny, it's doubtful we'll ever hear from Susan. I think she sold her Play-Mor and on FiberglassRV had Last Activity: 11-26-2007 04:26 PM

Thanks Donna. I saw the current comments but did not notice the eight year gap. As Rick Perry so famously said "oops"..

It's perfectly okay Denny, I just didn't want you to think Susan was ignoring you.
