Kirk Creek Campground, Big Sur, CA

Great little campground on the CA coast south of Big Sur. Every site has a view of the ocean that is amazing. Just keep your eyes peeled for poison oak. You definitely don't want your kids or pets to get into that evil plant!

This used to be my favorite place until Sunset Magazine posted it as "the most beautiful camp ground in the US" now if you can get a spot you are very lucky; there isn't much choices around there. You are directly across from a trail that goes into The Ventana Wilderness . Spot 9, 10 & 11 were my favorites.

if you've got a reasonably high clearance vehicle, and your trailer is both small and high clearance, AND you're a buck-a-roo, head up to the top of Naciemento Fergeuson Rd near there, take a right onto South Coast Ridge Road (dirt road), go a couple miles and bear right onto the road to Prewitt Ridge, and you can dry camp anywhere around there, its national forest land... do note, road IS impassable when wet.
