Lion's Camp, Lamoille, NV

We've been invited to a wedding in Sept 2012 to be held in the Neveda's Ruby Mts at the Lions Campground Lamoille. The camp is located on Forest Service Development Road 122.

Has anyone ever stayed there? It does look beautiful.

I haven't camped in that area but have been through there and the Ruby range and the valley are drop dead gorgeous.

It looks like our 9 month loop of the USA may be extended to an 11 month loop.

Looks interesting. As the page says, Nevada is not all sagebrush and desert! (Just mostly )

We have some friends, the Prewitts, who moved to nearby Elko to pastor a church... Great Adventure Harvest Church. They are super nice people.

I've nevered camped in the campground but years ago we used to trek out to the Rubys to go backpacking. Beautiful country. I had know about the Rubys from my Dad but when I first went there but I was so surprised at the actual terrain after having driven through so much flat desert country.

It's on my list of stopoffs whenever I getting around to going north to MT and the Dakota's.

We plan to spend three or four days camping there. One can rent the whole campground for $525. It might be an interesting place for an egg rally.

Charlene,
Fortunately it's the beginning of September, besides it's a wedding and that always provides a warm feeling. If it doesn't the pig roast following the wedding should. We are layer people, when we go to cold climates we just add layers. We never carry any winter clothing.

Don't let the beginning of September fool you. Charlene is correct. Be prepared.

Prepared

We will be prepared. I notice that the central portion of the country already has cold weather headed that way.

One thing that adds to the situation is the elevation, something we never encounter in the East. We always carry enough clothing layers and back up systems.

We're thinking of carrying our 1000 watt generator and maybe adding solar panels to our roof. As well we will carry a super filter so we can use virtually any water source.

For my wife it means we need to pack a couple of extra cans of Spam.

Is there anything we should be checking out in this area because we'll probably be in the genral area for a couple of weeks.
