Minnesota state parks shutdown!!!!!!

Polititians can't agree how to balance the budget in MN (do they ever agree?) Their failure to act in time shut down state govt.

Conservation officers closed the Park system at 4PM yesterday. Campers were told to pack up their stuff and leave.

After a year's worth of plannng a family reunion, hard to imagine what is must be like having to pack up and leave?

I am finding it very upsetting that our elected MN government officials can not do their job and keep MN government operational and open for business. It is a shame that it has also affected thousands of people's plans for camping in MN State Parks this holiday weekend. Hopefully an agreement regarding the budget can be reached soon. We have reservations for camping in a few weeks for Tettegouche State Park - we'll be anxiously awaiting for a resolution.

Where I live they always hold the sports and music programs hostage when they want to pass a referendum or arbitrarily increase taxes for the schools... works everytime! I'll bet it works in MN too!

In GA we just opened a brand new state park this weekend. Chattahoochee Bend state park. It's surprising to see a new state park opening these days, when other states are closing theirs.
At least we had one fiberglass camper represented, my Scamp 16. Another couple owns a 13 Scamp but bought their motorhome this weekend. Also saw a 16' Airstream, a rented A-liner, and a Retro Shasta.
