Mount Pisgah Campground on the BRP

We did a last minute trip (planned the day before) to the highest campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway this past weekend. Even though the U-Haul is still 'For Sale', we loaded up the camper and went from Hot Spartanburg to Cool Mount Pisgah.
This is a pretty campground, lots of privacy to the sites, quiet- no hookups and generator shut down time is 8:00, with several trails leading off from the campground, and a short walk to a WONDERFUL restaurant at the Pisgah Inn. The chef does some fantastic twist on classic dishes and our wait staff (dinner and breakfast) was very attentive. Not cheap, but not unreasonable either.
If you want to get away from the summer heat in the South without driving too far north, this is a good spot if you can do without the electric hookup. Oh, spaces are only $16.00.

Enjoy,
Dave

Sorry to have missed you Camper Dave. We just got home yesterday from an 8 night retreat at Mt Pisgah. We were in B-27...would have loved to chat.

Hi Lynne,

Sorry we missed each other, but this was just a one night spur of the moment trip for us. We were at A-14 but were not around the campsite much. We got chased back from the Frying Pan Mountain Trail by the Saturday afternoon storm, and then after breakfast on Sunday morning we headed out to the trails around Shining Rock.
We did meet your husband and chatted for a bit. We were walking our dogs around the campground loops when we saw the Casita. We did hear about your travelling cat; I imagine that he would take up a lot less room than our 100 lb. retriever and our 10 lb. Dachshund-Yorkie mix (called a Dorkie).
Take care and have good travels,
Dave and Patti
