Mustang Island, Texas. Looking for info & Experiences

We just finalized plans to get out of the cold and snow for awhile. We are heading to the Corpus Christi area and are considering staying on the beach on Mustang Island. We know that a permit is required from the city for up to two 3 day stays on the beach per month. Do any of you have any experience there or info to share?

We’ve been up and down the beach at Mustang Island. We went through Mustang Island State Park, there’s a campground just off of the beach and many folks that park on the beach. You might try going to the state park for beach access.
