We are looking at visiting Myrtle Beach in August, and wondering if anyone has stayed at Myrtle Beach State Park, the pictures look good, and full hookups for $28 night are great.
Anybody been there, is it a nice campground? Close to the attractions?
Any suggested sites? Any ideas if there is a clear view of the southern sky for satellite?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
I'm one of those who live down here and have spent YEARS at MB State Park. You'll love it! The main campgrounds are in a secluded pine grove 200 yards from the beach with many pathways to the shore. They've built a boardwalk that runs the length of the parks dune line starting from the camping area all the way down to the pier. The campspots offer water & electricity, bath & shower rooms with in walking distance, a offsite dump & there's a central convienence store. Not to mention all the nature trails, the fishing pier, & picnic areas deeper into the park.
The orientation of the coast gives a clear view of the southern sky, however in the campgrounds you'll have to contend with tall pines overhead.
The park is located just south of Myrtle Beach & the main drag of ocean bvd. It separates Myrtle Beach from the communities of
Surfside Beach & Garden City. You'll be close to the Old Myrtle Beach AFB which has been turned into Market Common, a beautiful shopping, dining & entertainment area. You can't be better centrally located.
The only fly in the ointment I can offer would be the humidity we have in August, however, since your so close to the beach, the ocean breeze really keeps things more tolerable. Bring sunscreen & bicycles. Getting here through the traffic may be a gripe, but once you arrive, you'll not want to leave.
Enjoy your visit!
