Need suggestions for weekend camping BC mainland / WA state

we are newbs at the camping thing - got our little trailer last year with the intention just to use it as our low cost accommodation for our annual summer fishing on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Fishing is over for the season, the trailer is back in the lower mainland. Looking at the weather charts, we now feel that one quick final camping trip this long weekend would be a good thing to do - but then comes the problem - we have never camped anywhere, other than in Ucluelet, BC, and we really have no clue where to go.

Any good suggestions from fellow glass egg people? What are your favorite spots? Maybe somewhere in WA state, fairly close to home would be interesting. Something fairly comfortable, offering electrical hook-ups, decent rest rooms and hot showers.

Just got back from Larrabee in Washington. Its small but nice. Get there as early as you can as its first come, first served for sites and even the tenters want utilities for their electric heaters at night.

Was at Ft Ebey the week before and its nice, but showers are older. Rasor is also nice - especially clean as they blow all the streets and campsites off each day!

Those are all really close to the border and easy trip from Vancouver.

Have a great weekend!

How about Birch Bay State Park? That's just across the border, has salt water access, electric and water hook-ups, showers, and a dump station. I think they take reservations too.

Here's a link to the WA State Parks home page: Washington State Parks Home Page

You could try the Fort Campground in Fort Langley. Its close to town, close to a golf course, and touring around the Fort itself is always interesting. Oh, did I mention its also close to some WINERIES!!!

Looks like no rain in the forecast for about the next 10/12 days.
Book now as the long weekend can get crowded.
