Greetings! We have our camper in Dakota during the summer months and enjoy the area very much. Having recently purchased a condo in Tempe, I am thinking about having it brought down for the winter months.

The perfect campground for Gigi and her Faberge Lovebug and Sports fan Husband, is:

Prefer facilities to have power and shower.
Like rather quiet places, off the beaten path. Gigi is an artist, mostly landscape, plein air.
Am game to travel a fair distance from Tempe for a week at a time. If there's a college sporting event, football, basketball, that's make DH even more happy to go!

We went to Tempe in 2008, fell in love with it again, it'd been many years since I'd been, and then, while there for an ASU football game, in 2009, we decided to look around for a vacation home. And, after a couple of flights there, we found one and now shall be there part time.

Sedona, The Grand Canyon, the Sequoia National Park, areas around Phoenix, have been visited several times already this last winter with our guests, and we loved every moment and wouldn't mind spending more time at these locations.

So, here's a shout out for Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, Utah, Mexico...where shall we go for a week of camping?

I am very excited to hear what you offer! Please tell me more!

To accommodate your Love Bug during a trip to The Grand Canyon, I highly recommend The Circle Pines KOA.
After a hot drive across the desert, the high elevation pine forest provides cool evening relaxation, no A/C required. Great Amenities!
  • Free Wireless Internet Available
  • Snack Bar (available with charge) Good eats! Live entertainment on weekends!
  • Restrooms and Showers (no charge) Clean & well maintained!
  • Laundry Facilities (available with charge)
  • Swimming Pool (March 13 - September 14) Indoor!
  • Hot Tub
  • Sauna (no charge)
On the other hand, I am underwhelmed by Grand Canyon KOA. While it is a newer facility that is closer to the canyon, it was built on open grassland. I only hope that the saplings they planted have matured since I was last there.

Bear in mind that some of our State Parks that were scheduled to be closed are still open for business too. My favorite park and close by to Phoenix too, is Picacho Peak. Great hiking and vistas from the peak and nice campsites with electric hook up and clean restrooms. You can't beat that area for nightime sky watching and brilliant sunsets too. Here are some from my last outing there in June.

You might want to come to one of the Quartzsite gatherings next year.
