nice little weekend trip in michigan

we got up saturday morning , hooked up and headed out.
i prefer two lane blacktop at 55mph. so thats where we we stay mostly.
we headed north up m24 to mayville, and cut acrossed threw vassar to bay city. there we got on 10 for a short bit to m20 and 25 miles or so later we were in mt.pleasant. camped at the saginaw chippewa tribes campground 3.5 miles from the soaring eagle casino.
in the afternoon we went into town and explored downtown mt pleasant. its quite,,,,well...pleasant! had a nice snack and coffee at a little bakery. then went back to the campsite to rest and cook dinner.
after dinner we went up to the casino, and spent three hours going threw $8 on the penny slots. had a lots of fun.
sunday morning we got up hooked up and headed back east to midland.
the dow gardens is a beautiful botanical gardens filled with wonderfull varieties to enjoy. we went to the butterfly house and took lots of pictures . i always enjoy butterflies.
finaly we got back in the car and headed for home.
for less then one tank of gas, and about $50-60 play money, we had a beautiful weekend trip.

the campground was very quiet, only seven campers there this time of year. not a lot for kids to do there, so i would say this is an adult find. even in the busy times it should be pretty quiet. cost for a 30A site was $18

I never knew there was a butterfly house. Is it right in town? Which direction from CMU?

the butterfly house is at dow gardens in midland. fred miejers gardens in grand rapids has an even nicer one...if one can be nicer then the next...
dow is done for the season now. not sure if miejers is still open or not.

well,,, till next year then.... something to plan for in the spring...it really is a "flapping good time",,,,lol i slay me.....
anyway, miejers garden and dow gardens are absolutely beautiful places. worthy of a planned visit. or if your just passing threw,,, the perfect places to stop for a picnic lunch and short rest.

(uh guys,,,,very romantic setting too,,,,but don't let on to the ladies we know they like that sort of stuff, they will expect it all the time.)
