Good to know know you and Ginny may be in NL in 2017. Susan and I are planning a return trip in the late spring. We totally blame (read: credit) you and Ginny with our new addiction to NL! Initial thinking is to go via the Argentia ferry this time and return thru Port aux Basque. Vermont winter is a lovely time to sit in front of a fire and plan spring/summer treks. We'll stay in touch as the plans evolve - maybe we'll we'll cross paths.

Note that the Argentina ferry doesn't run until sometime in June. The Castles did take it back.

Definitely a critical detail!! Thanks for the heads up - we hadn't imagined it would be so much later than the Port aux Basques ferry. Just checked and the 2017 start date for Argentia is 6/17. Looks like we'll be doing a clockwise rotation. Nothing wrong with that though we had hoped to visit gros morne toward the latter portion of the trip.

The original spreadsheet was in Excel, Microsoft's spreadsheet format. Some could not open this format. I also have it in PDF format. If you want it in this format drop me a PM.

Hi Norm,
I am one of those who cannot open the .xlsx spreadsheets. The free openers have a hard time dealing with the "latest and greatest". However, all Microsoft software allows saving in the older, three letter format, e.i. .xls. It is the same with the other types of files, e.g. .doc versus .docx.

Ginny and I will be crossing into Newfoundland in another 3 weeks, May 15th returning July 15th. We think it's our 8th trip but really have lost track of the number.

This year is turning out to be a massive iceberg year. The number of bergs off the east coast is approaching a record number. The Internet is loaded with pictures of everything from slob ice to 12 story monsters.

As some have noticed we have been absent from the Forum, busy with a new aspect of life but we intend to post pictures of this trip.

Hope for you it warms up a bit up there.
I was in Deer Lake last night for work, still lots of snow, from the air I could see all the lakes still frozen hard (they haven't even started to change color), and it was -13C this morning!! Looks more like February than April!

We're planning a NL & Lab trip one day, I enjoy all what you write about your experience up there.

I have a set of photos of various harbors filled with slob ice. It's a little cool but I suspect mid-May will be OK. This year we are traveling with a long time RV friend. He plans to return via Labrador.
