We're in San Diego until Sunday and thinking about going North towards LA and take I-10 home.
Anyone know of some parks between here and South LA that would be cool to spend three nights?

There are two state campgrounds right on the beach, and both of them are really nice:

San Elijo State Beach
- www.parks.ca.gov
2050 N Highway 101, Encinitas - (760) 753-5091

South Carlsbad State Beach
- www.parks.ca.gov
7201 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad - (760) 438-3143

San Onofre State Beach, North of Oceanside
949-492-4872

And a quick google search yielded these names for beach camping:

* Guajome County Park
* Oceanside RV Park
* Paradise-By-The-Sea RV Park
* Trailer Rancho RV Park

If you've never seen the 200" Hale telescope on Mt. Palomar, there is a state park there as well, and the observatory is awesome!

Rogers beach ideas are good if you are doing I-5.

If taking the 15 (Which would actually be faster for you) check the campgrounds in the San Bernardino county parks or Riverside County Parks (Stay to the Northern and eastern ones.. the ones south and in Riverside are scary!) or San Bernardino National Forest Campgrounds

I can recommend almost ALL the National forest ones that take RVS besides Sorranto, and Barton Flats. San Gorgornio is iffy too...

Thanks much everyone for all of your suggestions. We landed at San Elijo State park which was full, but they found us a site overlooking the ocean for last night and tonite. Absolutely awesome place. If you haven't come down here before you need to try it. Best with reservations as it is really popular. Most of the sites are dry, but they do have about 20 or so that have hookups.
We'll pull out tomorrow and head back to AZ for the grind. Been a wonderful week at Campland in San Diego and San Elijo.
We got to meet Frederick Simson and Robert while in San Diego and enjoyed the visit immensely. Look forward to our paths crossing again guys!
