After some problems with my web host my travel blog is now up and running again. I've lost the blogs from years past, but hopefully we can keep it going into the future. If you'd like to the pictures and read about our travels here is the place

Good luck in the sw. This usually the time people leave the SW, it's getting a bit hot down there. Death Valley is mostly closed. Lake Mead is too hot. Ajo which is just north of Why, AZ is supposed to be in the upper 80s and low 90s next week. I hope you enjoy trip.

After the winter we've had it's good to know someone was warm. The desert is very foreign to us. Winter camping in Death Valley would not have occured to me. Obviously, that's the time to go. Thanks for sharing. Raz

Byron, thanks for the trip report and link to your blog. Sorry to hear that you lost all your previous blog posts! We've visited DV 5 times I think and it's one of my favorite NPs, but we haven't been down that way in quite some time. Seeing your pictures made me want to go again! Also, Organ Pipe NM has been on our list for awhile too. We've never been there before. Love getting down to the desert in the winter.

Cool Winter in the desert

It isn't all sweetness and light in the desert in the winter.

That is ice on the fountain in Yuma. LOL

Of course it does get into the 70-80s during the day.

We have gone south every year since 2010. Usually to down I-5 or 101 depending on the weather in Siskiyou pass.
El Monte, CA, Yuma, Tucson, Apache Junction, sometimes Wickenburg, Kingman and the "west coast" of Arizona, Bullhead City, etc.
We did drive through Death Valley and out CA 190 to Mojave and usually, because of snow thru Tehachapi Bakersfield and up the I-5 or 101 to home
