Overnight Parking TX, NM, AZ

We will soon be making a trip from Hattiesburg, MS through TX, NM and into AZ. We plan on spending the first night at an RV park in Gladewater, TX. After that we plan to overnight in Wichita Falls, Amarillo, Albuquerque and Winslow. When we are simply driving from point A to point B, we usually overnight in Walmart parking lots. I estimate that in the past 5 years we have stayed in about 100 different Walmart locations.

On the yahoo Walmart email list someone made me aware of overnighting at casinos. There is even a website that provides information Casino Camper - Home Anyway, I thought I'd post this in case any of you are interested.

After we spend a couple of days in Bullhead City, AZ visiting a relative, we will make our way to Snow Canyon State Park in St George, UT and then on to Zion and the North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon, staying within the parks. We've done this trip before and really enjoy being out west when the trees are changing.

Just stayed recently in Amarillo, in a cg called "overnite" as it only caters to transients. If you have pets several sites have fenced in pet areas. Also the Big Texan Steakhouse will send a free limo to pick/return you from their place of business, which is a must see.

Any rest area will work in those three states. TX has some of the best rest areas I've seen. We've stayed in rest areas in all three of those states.

If you're staying a few days in Bull Head City, Kathrine Landing is good. We've stayed there a few times, last time was for 30 days. No hook ups, but there's showers and laundry next to the campground.

Stayed in a lot of truck stops, Walmarts, rest areas as well as Koa's, state, local and federal campgrounds. We found a wealth of apps for traveling on a budget. Had a blast, went from Fort Worth, TX, thru NM, AZ, CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, SD, ND, MN, WI, MI, IL, IA, NE, KS, OK and back to TX. Next year we plan on going east.

It looks like you did a lot of driving very little staying. This typical for first long trips. After a while you'll want to explore more in one place. Many of those states require the full time of your trip to get a real good idea of what they have to offer.

Oregon- Did you go over Mckenzie Pass? How a trip up to Timberline Lodge, A few days at Crater Lake? Did you visit the High Desert Museum? Did you manage a couple days at Newberry Volcanic National Monument? That's just a teaser, there's much more.

CA - Lot of National Parks. Death Valley we've spent about 3 months total there an haven't run out of things to see. Joshua Tree NP, lots to see there. Mr. Lasson deserves a few days. The Red Wood NP/St. park needs at least a week.

I'm sure the other state you went screaming through deserve a bit more time also.

You'll want to see more another time, so don't worry about it. Our first trip out 30 days needed a lot more time some places. We've managed giving some places a bit time. Los Vegas has some great museums like the "Mob Museum", the Pinball Museum, the Neon Sign Grave Yard, then there's The Carrol Shelby museum and car company.
