I decided to be brave and tow the
Scamp (no not with the Studebaker-my husband drove that up) to the Oldtimers Rod Run in Port Angeles and I must say white knuckles and all it wasn't that bad. I may get the hang of this towing thing yet.
We had a great time and stayed on the fairgrounds. The lush grass in front of the agriculture building won out over the hookups set up on the pavement, so I snuck the little
Scamp in there. Ok, I didn't (still haven't got that backing thing down yet) but another friendly camper did so for me.
For those who haven't been to the fairgrounds it's a very small town place that is kept up nicely with lovely lush grass--AND with the local airport RIGHT next door. So there are small planes flying really low overhead as they come in to land--my daughter LOVED it. She sat on the "step"-the doorway of the
Scamp and cheered everytime one came in.
It was a great weekend, we had a few less campers than normal I think because the weekends got switched but hopefully next year will be back to normal. They are hoping to make a huge Mardi Gras themed party out of it because it will be the 40th anniversary of the run. This event and it's great group of FGRV's is the reason we bought one and it was nice to be able to join them this year.
