Been thinking about going to PEI near the end of June. We've seen the Gaspe and 3 or 4 times to Nova Scotia but never made it to PEI. Anyone been there to tell me what to expect? Campground suggestions? Guess I need to re-look at what I'll need to cross the border since never took a trailer and haven't crossed there in years.
Thanks for any help about PEI.

Chris

Hi,

You'll love it! Just call 1-800-463-4PEI (1-800-463-4734) and they will send you maps, campground guides and enough literature to keep you busy for a weekend.

Look in "Camping/Campout reports" for our recent, "Down East Summer '08 trip report" for an overview and some recommendations (one not mentioned there is the stage play "Anne of Green Gables", a well-done classic).

Have fun,

Des & Diane

Hey thanks. I called and they are sending the info.
What's you general concensus of the crowd in the summer? I guess after spending many trips to Maine in the summer, I get a little concerned about going "down east" when school's out. Coastline of Me. gets real busy then. Sounds like you didn't have campground reservations there - no concern?

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,

Our pleasure. It will be crowded, especially on the weekends, but not as impossible as US coasts. You're right, we didn't book in advance and made out fine. If you know your dates though, it certainly won't hurt to reserve. One more tip -- New Glasgow Lobster Suppers! They even teach you how to take them apart, for easy eating.

Come on down and have a great holiday. The landscape is different than the mainland, views are excellent, weather is usually good, lots happening in the summer months to entertain you, lots of nice places to eat, and lots of campgrounds. Check out our fiberglass meet in July. Feel free to contact us or look us up.
