Escaping Rocky Mountain nat park

Finally got out of there on Thursday via Trail Ridge road. Only one entrance was open on the east side and i had to take a convoluted route through the town because a good bit of downtown was flooded. Made it over to Moab for Dead Horse Point state park, for Canyonlands, for Arches. Left Moab and headed back into Colorado. On the way I hit some rain, some water and mud on the road plus a bonus: hail on the road. Finally stopped for the night at Montrose. Since so much of CO is messed up with rain, etc, I'm on my way back to Michigan. Try again some other year.

Nothing wrong with trying some other time Bob. Some folks never try the first time! Safe travels to you and make good memories along the way

Bob,
I'm glad you and yours are safe and sound and headed home and that you will also give Colorado a second chance. Wish I had known you were traveling on the Western Slope since you practically drove past my house on your way to Montrose. Would have loved to meet you. If You are headed back thru GJT send me a PM.

I suppose Moab was still pretty hot? Too bad you couldn't have headed farther north... the Tetons, Glacier NP, something up that way.

Actually Moab was not hot. Just really nice. Got the photos of the Colorado River gooseneck from Dead Horse point state park. Several photos including three that I stitched into a panoramic shot. Got a two shot panorama of the Green River overlook in Canyonlands. The trip was not a complete bust.
