Hi Everyone,
In March our family is thinking of going to Albuqurque (SP?) NM to visit a friend and then driving to the Grand Canyon. Does anyone know of a place in Albuqurque where we might rent a RV or trailer with car? We are not interested in the huge vehicles that places like Cruise America rents out. We ARE Scamp owners after all!
Small and simple...and not too expensive!
Thanks for you help,
Marjie

If ur thinkin of pulling a rental RV to Grand Canyon in March, beware the weather. It is bitter cold on the rim until May and usually gets quite a bit of snowfall. March can be fierce weather there.

Unhappy

I agree with Greg A, the weather could be fickel at that time, if it is snowy or just cold and rainy, it could be foggy in the canyon as well and not be able to get a good view, a rental car and a night or two in a hotel/motel outside of the park would save you a good deal, I would assume.

HI,
Thank you all for your advice and information. After inquiring about the rv I realized it was just too expensive. A car and motel would be much better, and since the weather is so iffy that time of year, probably the wiser choice.
Plans are still unknown right now....but thanks for your help!

The weather can be great or it could not, it changes from day to day, I would give the Park a call before going. We wanted to go by it during a Spring Break a couple of years ago in March and a front was going through at the same time. We called and they told us about the fog and haze which could keep the vistas hidden. We did not go, we went to Tucson and Bisbee instead. We would have done the motel/hotel car trip for a short trip like we had planned. Hope it works out to be clear and sunny days for you when you are in the Southwest. If you get up by Flagstaff, the Sunset Crater is a nice area a nice loop drive by old ruines and just a neat drive. There is a very neat Navaho museum by Red Rock State Park as well, just east of Gallop, not to mention the short drive into the Petrified Forest Nat'l Park all on your way to the Grand Canyon area.
Happy Trails!
