RV campground near Milpitas, CA
Having a hard time finding anyplace to put the Casita down near Milpitas, CA. Our sons live just to the south of there and I cannot come up with anything. Private RV site, fairgrounds, county site anything nearby.
Have Allstays app, most places are booked. Need a week or two in August, but am flexible.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

There are a number (7) south near the coast. Do a google map search for campground near Milpitas, CA. Don't know how good they are. 2 are north of Santa Cruz and the other 5 are near Watsonville right on the coast.

I am hoping to find something within 10 to 20 miles of Milpitas. I would like to visit in the evenings and go back to the trailer for the night. The coast is much too far away.
But thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated.

If there is more than one Walmart nearby, you could spend single nights but would need to move your entire rig. That's assuming they allow campers overnight.

We have not had much luck with Walmarts in CA. In LA there is no overnight camping allowed.
Having said that, we did see a lot of homeless people sleeping in their vehicles at various places, so maybe the laws are not enforced.

rvparkreviews shows this place,
Trailer Tel RV Park - San Jose, CA - RV Park Reviews
this is a very nice county park in the hills east of san jose/milpitas,
Joseph D. Grant County Park - San Jose, CA - RV Park Reviews
but no hookups, and its up a winding twisting road. pulling a fiberglass shouldn't be any issue, as long as you're comfortable on 2-lane switchbacks...
2 weeks in a casita might be a bit long for dry camping, however. 1 week is doable if you're careful with your water, and have all LED lighting, and generally minimize power use.
there's a couple OK places in Coyote, which is just south of San Jose, probably 20 mins from Milpitas if its not rush hour.
see Milpitas, CA Campground Reviews - Best of Milpitas Camping - RV Park Reviews for plenty more choices (caveat emptor, quite a few sound like places I'd avoid, personally).

Thanks John. I know about Trailer Tel, but did not go there last year. Actually wife said we called but they were full.
Did not know about the others, will check these out. We stayed at Coyote Valley last year and it was a bit of a drive to get to our kids, but it is a very nice park. We simply could not find anything else.
But these are parks we did not know about last year, so we will check these out in a month or so when we hit the road.

Just FYI we stayed at Garden City RV Park, for about 10 days or so. Great location for us since it was near our boys home. Owner/manager was very accommodating, rest rooms and shower very clean. Mostly long termers, but he has some spaces now and again. Near/next to a city garage truck maintenance shop, so smelly at times. Tight.

We have stayed in Gilroy about 35 miles form Milpitas on our way to Oceanside for our winter vacation. Newer park with nice amenities, although quite a few permanents. Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park - The best RV park in the area
And as the name implies if your like garlic like my wife,,,, the area is famous for it.
We also seen a couple Parks on the 101 between the 680-101 Jct and Gilroy but have no knowledge.

We stayed in Coyote RV park, which is about 10 miles south of San Jose the year before last. It took us about an hour plus in the late morning and about 30 to 45 minutes leaving about 10:00pm to get back. So travel times were much too long.
The jaunt to and from Garden City RV park would take us 15 to 20 minutes tops.
However, it is a very nice park and we will stay there again if the boys move to the western part of San Jose.
