Just got back from a great weekend on Hood Canal off of Hwy 101 milepost 305 in Washington. This is just off of the highway, but you would never know it without looking at the map. On the west side of Hood Canal just north of the huge town of Brinnon, OK there are a couple of mom and pop stores and a small K-8 school.

An Olympic National Forest Campground, sits on Hood Canal and no bad camp sites.

Oysters on the beach if you purchase a license from the Brinnon General Store.

$12.00 a night, no reservations.

The weather was mild, light wind and the opening of Shrimp Season. Light rain over night and sun and clouds during the day. The campground opened last weekend and will be open until September.

The oysters were tasty.

Lots of Eagles, note the spread wings to the side.

I've been there! Not since 1969 when I canoed there from Girl Scout camp on Hood Canal. I still remember it mainly because of the kids in our group who got poison oak. I remember the year because we were there when the moon mission was launched (not when it landed, I was home then.)

They did not let you canoe to the Boy Scout Camp at Camp Parsons?

You will be happy to know that "Robbinswold" is still there, so is Parsons. So is the poison oak all along the canal.

I stopped by Robbinswold a few years ago to say hi- the caretaker was a friend from long ago.

No, they made us stop a few miles short of Parsons. My brother-in-law now runs two of the other BS camps, I wish he had Parsons. His has a lake but no canal.

We also took canoe trips up the Hamma Hamma and down to that town where the hydroelectric plant is (different years.) Not my favorite thing- long canoe trips on the canal.

Nice pics. Can you elaborate on the grill set up you've got there?

The grill was on the trailer when I got it. No labels I can find. The former owner passed away. Believe it or not he snowbirded in the Scamp at Quartsite AZ. I will take some close up pics of the grill and post them to modifications.

We spent Labor Day at Seal Rock. Still a great place. Took the kayaks and played for 3 days. They are closed now, but will reopen in Mid May for Shrimp Season
