Sept. 4 Campsites in Sacramento or Auburn, CA?

Hi Everyone,
We are seeking a campsite on Labor Day, Sept. 4 on HW 80 in CA near Sacramento or Auburn that costs under $60. We're very happy to boondock. We're just looking for a place to stay overnight while we head out on a longer trip. We think this should not be too difficult as most people will be LEAVING the campground on this date.

Of course, there's always WalMart but it's not our first choice.

We appreciate the experience and wisdom of fellow forum members.

I haven't stayed in Auburn but have stayed many times at the Nevada County Fairgrounds and have always enjoyed it. It's only 21 miles from Auburn on hiway 49, any easy drive. You can walk into the town of Grass Valley from the fairgrounds (I would guess 1/2 mile) through nice shady neighborhoods).
