I live in SW Montana. Honestly I can't recommend anyone heading this way from out of state to go camping. Most days air quality is poor to very bad but just as important most of the scenery that people travel here for is either completely obscured by the smoke or nearly so. Its only going to get worse as the summer wears on too. There appears to be no end in sight. Good luck with your plans.

Also, some places are shutting down to prevent any fires from starting so you may not be able to find a place to camp.

Hey Roy in TO
No fire danger down here but they are all in the root cellars in the home of the love bug.

I had no idea what I was getting into last September. The nightly news talked about wildfires in California and just did not give it proper coverage. Before I got home, I learned what “Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome” (ARDS) was. 2020 was a year to remember.

Guess you were watching the wrong channel.

There are also numerous web sites that forecast fire and smoke. Just Google "fire and smoke" for your area or where you plan to travel.
