The north shore was pretty much booked solid, so we decided to go down to SE Minnesota and visit Whitewater State Park. Back in the day we went there every winter with a church group, but it's been about a decade since then, so we decided to see what the camping would be like. In a word: "GREAT!".
As is our wont, we drove around the loops after dropping off our Scamp
to see if any other FB folks were there. On one loop we saw a 13' Scamp
so we stopped in to say "Hi!". No sooner had we gotten out of the car than a woman screamed, ran up, and embraced Dorothy. It was an old friend (as in "was at her wedding, rented part of their apartment to" kind of friend) who she hadn't seen for 5 years! Minnesota IS a small big state, dontcha know!?!
The 13' Scamp
was being modified. They had taken out the fridge
, and were contemplating removed to water tank to make storage. I suppose they had their reasons, but it seamed a bit drastic. There was also an Airstream Bambi being renovated. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the inside but did get to talk with the owners. Much of the original equipment is still in there from the 60's. They are in the midst of putting thin wood veneer on the inside. It should be spectacular when finished.
The park is beautiful, and there's lots to do in the area. We took our bicycles down to Lanesboro and cycled a bit on the Root River Trail. We had an important destination: PIE SHOP! A good time was had by all.
