Yellowstone / Grand Teton National Parks

I am looking for suggestions/recommendations on where to camp in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks this September (mid-month). I am not interested in being packed in like sardines, which often occurs with full-service campsites.

How busy is the park at this time of year?

Do we need reservations, or for the first-come/first-served sites, how early do we have to be there?

Any help is appreciated;

We were in Yellowstone in the middle of Sept last year and the campgrounds in the park were almost empty. We also had rain and snow!! Had a great time though! The scenery and wildlife are pretty nice! Have a great trip!

We love the USFS Eagle Creek CG, just a few miles outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone, on the banks of a lovely trout stream. Good trout fishing up the canyon from the CG. No hookups, but also no tents or popups - only hard-sided RVs due to bears. Generally speaking, we've found USFS CGs quieter, cleaner and more available than NPS CGs.

We were in the Tetons two nights ago. Plenty of available spaces. Check to see what campgrounds are open for when you will be visiting.
