1976 Eagle $5250 on eBay

Just happened to see this and canít recall seeing or hearing of it since I joined the forum. It appears to be the same shell shape as the TrailsWest Campster, judging by the fender well cover and notch-out in the forward lower shell for the bench seats. Iím guessing they acquired the molds when the Campster went out of production (c. 1974). I like the large jalousie windows. I'm wondering if they are a later addition. They- along with a few other details like the radius door and recessed taillights- don't seem quite right for 1976.

The only reference I could find on the forum was a brief mention in this thread.

Not mine- this is a referral for general interest only. I have no knowledge of the trailer or seller.

for sure the door and windows are much more recent additions. Those were not being sold in the 1970's

As far as I know the last year the Campsters were made was 1971. The company that owned the Trailswest Campster company did not mold the shells, or make even the steel frames that went under the trailer. They contracted with other companies to do that part of the production work. Of course they also did not make the windows and doors. They were pretty much a final assembly only operation in their Oregon facility.

There could have been a stockpile of shells already made when Trailswest Campster went out of business that might then have been sold off to another business.

I would suspect that the company that did the actual molding was the company that ended up with actual ownership of the molds after the Trailswest Campster company dissolved. It would not be unusual for a company that goes out of business to still owe money to a sub contractor. The company that made the shells would have then had the right to make and sell the shells to other companies.

Curious if you have a source or link for the 1971 date, KC? Researching on the forum I did encounter a couple of supposed 1974 Campsters, but of course titles and sellers donít always have it right.

Not questioning, just curious.
