Looks like an early 1980s 15B17G. Bigfoot called it a 17 ft, but it's 16'8".

Before buying this trailer I would also inquire of the seller why they havent attempted to register it, selling a trailer or car in BC without registration/transfer papers is a problem and would be far easier to sell if it had them.

I would not touch this trailer if it doesnt have a clear original VIN number as it cant be registered or insured in BC without one. It also cant be exported to the US without a vin & the BC registration/transfer papers either. If it has a VIN I would go to ICBC (the provincial run insurance company) before I purchased the trailer and ask them what needs to happen to change ownership and register it. Among other things It will need to go through an inspection prior to being registered.

Edit addition: If this trailer had been previously registered by the seller and they simply lost the paper work they shouldnt have a big problem obtaining a copy of the last registration done on it from ICBC saving a lot of headaches for the new owner.

No way of getting around the above by claim it as a home made u- bilt either. Starting July 1, 2012, customers registering u-bilt trailers (1,400 kg gross vehicle weight or less) must provide original support documents for all major component parts used to build the trailer. This change was made to help protect from fraud and make it more challenging to register stolen trailers.

Have no idea as to the history of this trailer I am just highlighting issues that could come about if purchased without the correct paper work

SOLD!

Less than 24 hours later...

FYI for y'all in B.C:

It's not that hard to reregister a vehicle without a Title in B.C. ...steps to take listed at the following link: ICBC | FAQs - Vehicle Registration and Licensing

But then I'm sure that whoever nailed the above trailer already knows that!

That's all, folks!

Yup see my note above on that topic. It is very easy to have ICBC do a search for the registered owner, if it has been registered in BC previously which makes one wonder why the seller didnt bother to get the papers. Can still be a bit of a problem if it turns out the person selling it was never registered with ICBC as the owner & has no paper work showing the transfer of ownership. You would need to track down who ICBC says it was last registered to & get confirmation of sale.

It gets a lot more complicated though and can be a BIG problem if the trailer has never been registered in BC ..... thats were the problem comes in. LOL

Edit to add: The registering of a trailer in BC with ICBC has no connection to whether or not it is clear title or not. It is simple the register of ownership for insurance purposes. If one wants to be sure it is clear title they need to pay a small fee $25? to have another government data base searched to confirm there are no leans registered against the trailer.

I was curious so I phoned and inquired about the no papers etc. Not that I need another project

The story was that a friend owned a storage lot, person lived in trailer, moved, stopped paying for storage 7 years ago. He bought it from his friend. Didn't know name of original owner or what steps were taken to notify her of the trailer being seized.

So it might have been a bit of pig in the poke. Might have been a good deal for right person. Who knows?

as we both know nothing is easy as one might think when comes to dealing with ICBC. Hope who ever got it has lots of patience and time on their hands to sort/trackdown all they want to register.

should have put some money down on that happening.

Parting out to get rid of it. Suspect someone discovered it wasnt going to be as easy to title as the simple wording on the ICBC literature/website suggested it might be. Thats good old ICBC for you! nothing is ever as simple as it sounds.
