I briefly thought about a regular axle for my 1988 Scamp 16 but time constraints and not wanting to re-engineer the thing right now caused me to go back with a torsion axle. And a beefier torsion axle and better storage conditions may be just fine for the next quarter century of my trailer’s life. That is not say that I will not spend some time laying under it with a measuring tape and thinking about a straight axle swap (when I have nothing else to do)……..
