I think it's pretty cool, assuming you plan to use it as intended. I remember when the fellow was posting about the build - I think he was a student doing research, and he and his partner took it out into the hinterlands, where a "normal" tug and tow would probably not make it.

So, I can see where it is a bit industrial looking, but I like it for its "form follows function" aspect.

I'm sure it would not be very fun to drive cross country, but then that's not really what it was made for.

I guess that's why they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"....I think for going on back roads is would be the cat's meow!

i'm with Emily ... i think this thing is WICKED! this bad-boy can go where most jeeps cant. i am glad i just bought a CT 13' ... otherwise, i might have considered doing something silly.

this would be perfect for Lake Tahoe where i used to live. there are so many off-road trails out there in close proximity. this would not be ideal for a cross-country trip, unless you were related to the CEO of Exxon or someone similar!

With the Mercedes turbo diesel the fuel consumption didn't seem that bad. They stated 500 km/50 l - tank that works out to 10 l / 100 km or a little over 23.5 mpg (US). That's better than I get in my Ranger.

I know folks with similar vehicles that have followed the "Silk Route" in China, the length of Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, West Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, and are still on the road. "Where ever the road takes them!"
The JEEP FC is a minature version of what I have and gets much better fuel mileage.
