I just completed installing an OEM hitch and wiring harness on my new to me 2016 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan.
This hitch, unlike the aftermarket units involves removing the rear bumper cover and the original bumper bar,
The hitch is pretty heavy duty and has arms that go up into unibody pockets that the bumper mounts in and includes reinforcement plates that the attachment bolts go through.
The attachment is pretty much straight line from the hitch bar that goes across the back and has little moment arm to flex.
The receiver hitch square tube is higher than the aftermarket inits and requires cutting clearance for the hitch and socket like the VW hitches I have installed.
The hitch is rated 3500 lbs with a
weight distributing hitch and 1800 lbs without,
Since the loads are higher with the WDH I assume that this is due to
weight distribution and handling etc.
I didn't have time to take pictures, but I have seen some on the web if anyone is interested.
