7-way connector zip tie replacement?

I've been trying to find a spare zip tie that holds the Casita's 7-way connector in the vehicle's trailer receptacle. I think it is a Nylon adjustable zip tie. I can't find them anywhere on the internet, I'm not even sure what they are officially called. I wanted to get a spare one in case anything happens to the original. Or do people replace them with something else? It just helps keep the plug in.

It's the lower one in the attached picture.

I had my plug fall out of my tow vehicle on my cross country trip and only way i knew was i saw that the electric break light went out so pulling over on highway i pluged back in and wrapped a small bungi cord around plug and then around plug receptical and it lasted the remaining 4000 miles and I still use this practice today.

Multi Clamp

I use the multi clamp on my 7-way connector. However, they do tend to wear out.

Menards has it as a discontinued item for $1.59 (one at the IOWA CITY, IA store and two at the BALLWIN, MO store).

Amazon has it for $6.10.

I had one of those with the Casita and really liked it. However, I see now you can get 100 reusable 12-inch zip-ties for about $10.

Isn't there a latch on the lid of the tow vehicle side of the connector that is supposed to keep the cord from falling out?

Yes, there's a latch, but mine has a tendency to bounce up and let the plug pull out. I've been using a small bungee cord wrapped around to solve the problem.

The 7 pin connector doesn't need any zip ties to be in place...

We’ve had our 7 pin connector come loose on several occasions, once when towing in the mountains . I now use a multi clamp , if that’s the belt and suspenders approach , so be it . I would rather be safe then sorry

Mine's a little loose too, so I use one of those rubber reusable twist ties.

They too eventually get pretty beat up, but work well.

How easy is it to put on the Camco one? I might give one a try.

I have a small 1" wide yellow nylon web strap with male/female Velcro strips on it that I wrap around my Bargman 7-Pin plug when the trailer is plugged in to the truck. I used to use one of those "multi clamp" gizmos, but I found them to be a total major PITA to hook up and take off. The Velcro strap is a two-second operation and adjusts to be tight around the Bargman plug lid and the trailer's female plug when inserted. So much easier than that "multi clamp" thing. I've had it for many years now. I originally bought it a long time ago at our local West Marine store. It was originally designed as a wire bundling wrap for coiling up excess shore power cords to keep them neat and orderly. Works great, and always has. I'm spoiled with it, and I'd never go back to those "multi clamp'" things.

This isn't the exact one that I have, but it's a close cousin. In fact, if I ever had to reorder one, I'd probably go with this package. Cheap enough and handy for a lot of stuff.

Personally, I prefer to lash things together with 100% Oregon Tilth-certified 100% organic Egyptian cotton cording lovingly hand-fabricated into a monkey's fist.

In fact, the use of plastic "rope" products made from the industrially-processed remains of long-dead creatures is so completely abhorrent, I haven't the words to describe it.

Don't even get me started on elastic.

Just to be clear, if you are doing anything different, it's crap.

And, you're welcome.

Simple, effective, long-lasting solution

Yes; the 7-pin connectors fall out as evidenced by the number of people who report it happened to them. Add me to that list. I was on a smooth paved freeway when a passing car alerted me to my dragging cord.

The multi clamp works perfectly. It simply stays on the cord when you unplug so you never have to look for it. Once you are used to its correct position you can attach it without looking or crawling under the vehicle.

They never let go, last for years, and cost less than ten dollars. What other problems are people having?
