Axle install in So.Calif needed

Has anyone with a fiberglass trailer had an axle cut off and new one bolted on in So. Calif? I have the new Dexter torsion axle, just can't find anyplace that has experience cutting off the old one. I've called all the places in my area. Surely someone has had an axle cut off in So. Calif? Thanks for your help!

Don't know anything about any of them. Just giving you some ideas. You said you couldn't find any. I always check reviews using google before I go to anyone!!!

Check Better Business Bureau. More reliable than Google reviews from relatives of the owner.

Thanks. Hoping to find someplace that has actually worked/welded on a fiberglass trailer. Definitely will check them out first.

Axel replacement

I just replaced the axle in my 86 casita at Buds trailer and brake in Bakersfield CA. The service I got was excellent and the axle fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend anyone who needs a new axle to go to Buds, just beware Dexter axles has 6-8 week wait on the part so it’s not a quick fix

This is great news! Thank you! I already received my axle from Dexter, just need to find someone with experience with fiberglass trailers. I will be calling them today. Do you mind sharing a ballpark dollar amount for the installation? I realize each situation will be different. Thank you again!

Oh that’s great news you already have an axle! I’m not sure how much the installation costs, Buds does the welding on sight and will get the job right. I feel like you will get the best outcome for a fair price

I’ve already called Bud and got a quote and getting a time set up! I sure appreciate your referral. I know other fellow Casita owners are looking for someone to replace their axles too. I’m going to work with Bud on that. I hope you don’t mind, I’d like to share your name as the one who highly recommends him. Thanks again!

Oh good news! I’m happy to refer others to a business that treated me well. Incase anyone was wondering I got my axle for around $900 and it took 2 months for axle delivery and a day or two for installation, just took trailer camping in the desert and it performed great. My name is Evan and I got a new axle at Buds trailer In Bakersfield

Smile All Good on the axle install

Thought I would give a follow up on my axle install at Bud's Brake and Trailer in Bakersfield, CA. It was a very straight forward install and they did a great job. They were very careful to protect the fiberglass and I have no complaints with the service.

I was quite surprised at the amount of lift I got from a 22.5 degree down axle on my 16' Casita! It was 4 1/2". Wow! Not what I had expected. I think the 16' Casitas get more lift than a 17' when lifted. Just my observation. I collected lots of pics of Casitas that had 22.5 degree down axle upgrades and none of them look as high as mine. My trailer is getting bigger tires tomorrow to help make the height look a little better. It's just as well since I'm now towing with an F250 4x4 and most of my camping is boondocking in the desert. I guess I don't have to worry about my tank valves breaking off from low clearance anymore.

Thanks very much for the referral EFunk3030!
