At 67, I find that lifting a 65 Lb. E-bike up any higher than into the bed of the pickup is about as much as I want to do. Those high mounts made for putting bikes way up in the air are just not gonna work for me anymore.

Hitch bike rack

Anyone have experience using one of these hitch mounted racks with an ordinary pedal bike, more like 30 lbs?

My 21' Escape has a factory 2" reciever in back, labeled "MAX 150 LBS". my RV rated Swagman Escapee2 bike rack weighs about 30 lbs, my bike weighs 27-30 lbs (depending if its got the rack trunk bag on, and water bottle), my wife's homebrew ebike weighs about 50 lbs without its battery pack, and when I load this, the tongue weight of the fully loaded trailer is barely 400 lbs, which IMHO is too light for a 4500 lb trailer. that said, we towed that combination 3000 miles last spring, California -> Nevada -> Utah -> AZ, and home. But I'm towing with an F250 longbed diesel, thats an incredibly solid and heavy ride, so not much bothers it.
