Scamp 16' Deluxe tires.

Scamp 16' Deluxe tires.

When I got my trailer it had 2, 13" wheels on the axle and a 14" wheel in the spare position.

The Tires on the 13" wheels were replaces by me with 2 new 175-80-13 trailer tires and I used these to get the trailer from Arizona to Oregon.

The 14" wheel has a F65-14ST mounted on it.

My issue……. I want all three of my tires to be the same.

My dilemma. I see that 13" tires are rated at 1360# @ 50psi. Checking the weights on a 16" Scamp Deluxe it is looking like the trailer weight is 2,500ish, this is getting very close to the limit for the tires I am running.

I called Scamp and they did say that 13" were stock.

So my options are get one 13" wheel and a new matching tire or getting two 14" wheels and three matching tires tires.

The 14" tires are rated for something like 1,700 pounds.

I really don't like being as close to the load limit for the 13s as I am.

Any opinions?

I would check how the 14" wheel and tire fits within the wheel well. If you go over a bump in the road and the axle flexes, will the tire scrub the top (or any other part) of the wheel well?

If you find that there is plenty of room, then I would get the two 14" rims and 3 new tires. If the tire is closer than a fist's distance from rubbing, then I'd get one 13" rim and tire for the spare.

You can purchase 175/80-13 load range D tires at etrailer.com. I bought those and the load rating is 1,610 at 65 PSI. You could also get the 185/80-13 and the load capacity of those is 1725 lbs.
