Scamp 19' Hitch height
Can anybody tell me how high the hitch on a scamp 19 is from the ground? Id like to know standard height and one that is raised. I came across a cheap one and might pick it up as a bridge to my next forever trailer. Now that my Colorado is out of warranty it won't matter if I install my 5th wheel hitch. Thanks

I don’t have my hitch height handy however mine is raised a lot with a timbren axle-less suspension. What is your concern? Being high enough to clear your truck? If you were looking at a trailer I think the easiest thing to determine stock or lifted is to see if there is any spacer box or rectangular tubing between the axle and frame.

I've owned a Scamp 19 before. I was looking at one in the Bozeman Montana Craigslist(turned out to be a scam) for $6000. I put an add a leaf on my 2016 Colorado prior to a big trip a month ago and now it sits at least 2-3 inches higher. I towed my old Scamp 19 with a first generation 2 wheel drive Colorado and it did great. The 2016 4x4 Colorado's bed is 36 inches from the ground. The side walls on the truck are 21 1/2 inches. A lot to consider lol.

From the Scamp owner's manual: 40" to top of the ball & 48" to top of truck's bed rails for a non-lifted trailer. If your bed rails are higher than 48" then a lift to the trailer would be needed to keep the trailer close to level when hitched. If you do not have proper clearance between the bed rails & the camper you can have them hit and damage each other. Good luck.

Yes I think it would be a challenge. Not sure I could raise it a foot or higher.

Using the Reese hitch that Scamp installs (and sells) these days, you can adjust the height of the ball so you have adequate clearance between the Scamp loft and the truck bed sides. Scamp has a number recommendation on their web page, I believe. If my Scamp did not come with the raised axle, I would be getting it. But if you are towing it just a few inches off level, I do not think you will have any problems.

I have the Reece hitch. It appears the ball will end up approx 52 inches up from the ground.
