I have to agree. Reduced weight from fewer amenities does tend to lead to packing more stuff which brings the weight up.

Fridge is heavy, but the cooler in the 550 lb. model is going to get 10 lbs. of ice weight before it is of any use. Etc. etc. etc. to quote Yule Brynner

Nobody tows an empty trailer when camping. Figure out the weight of your "stuff" and add that to the tow weight. It may not take much to exceed your tow vehicle's manufactured tow limits.

Be safe, always.

I see the Little Guy MyPod is actually molded fiberglass!
Pretty much just a warm, dry bed on wheels, but molded fiberglass, nonetheless.

Another option is a small tent trailer. Livin' Lite makes a line of aluminum tent trailers. The smallest, lightest model is the QuickSilver 6.0 Automotive Tent Camper Floorplans | Livin' Lite RV.

I looked into these before buying my Scamp. They give a lot of room for the weight, and the chassis and box seem well-constructed. Set-up is simple and does not involve any mechanical systems. However, the tent fabric seems flimsier than other tent trailers I have been in, and I don't think they would do well in wind. Not for cold weather, either.

Maybe combine a MyPod Max with a CLAM 1660 Mag Screen Tent?

Amazon.com : Clam Corporation 9294 3-Pack Screen Hub Wind Panels/Canopies : Sun Shelters : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Spend the day(s) in the CLAM 1660 Mag Screen Tent and the night(s)
in the MyPod Max ??

Just and idea ......

Good luck with your decision!

MyPod

So far it looks like the MyPod is going to be MyPad.
Thanks all.

Anyone else noticed the trailer in the current Ford Expedition tv ads. I thought it was a Compact but it's too small. I think it may be a Runaway.

With the Mazda 2 (great car btw, almost as nice as my summer toy, an MX-5) you can't pull much. the smaller 80s Cadet trailers, the ones with a pop up roof, would probably be OK. They're just under 1000 lbs.
