I pull a Scamp 16 with a 2020 Ascent no problem. Don't go faster than 65mph. Make sure the load is balanced.

Last fall I towed a 13’ Boler all up in the Co..Rockies for 10 nights off grid, 3 different off grid boonies locations. With a 2022 Outback Wilderness, same exact drive train as the Ascent 2.4l , I’m rated for like 3500lb. But the Acent is #5k.pound probably due to being a heavier vehicle. It did great! With no trailer brakes. Go for It!
I recently bought a 18’ Lovebug 2. We haven’t yet pulled it or weighed it, fingers crossed https://photos.app.goo.gl/qKqXTW3cspDkZRtLA

13’ Boler / 22 Outback Wilderness 2.4l turbo, same exact drivetrain.

10 nights , 3 different rugged locations. 0 problems , minus clearance on worn out camper axle, a couple days ago we picked up a lovebug 2, 18’foot hitch to bumper, 14.6x7’ inside. Yet to get a weight or pull with the Subí. https://photos.app.goo.gl/qKqXTW3cspDkZRtLA

We’re 5 weeks into a 10 week trip. We’ll probably put 6-7 thousand miles on before we get back to Maine. Averaging 14.6 towing an Escape19, probably 4200 pounds loaded.

We tow a 17' Casita with our '21 Ascent. The hitch receiver on the Ascent is 23" off the ground -- exactly the right height for the Casita.

You can disable the orange and red squares in the backup camera display. Press and hold the icon in the lower right corner of the display after shifting into reverse. You then get a clear and unobstructed view of your own ball and the trailer's hitch.

Not really relevant, but we just sold my wife's 2007 Outback and bought a 2023 Outback. This one has a class III receiver, but is limited to 2,700 lbs (with standard Boxer engine; turbo goes up to 3,500). We won't be using it for towing, though I'm wondering if I could hitch it up to my Escape 21C just to move it on and off a Trailer-Aid lift block in the yard.

The current Ascent is limited to 5,000 lbs towing, so I'm surprised that some of you are towing Escape 19s, which if loaded could be getting over 4,000. I've read somewhere that it's best to stay under 80% of capacity.
