Surge Brake Advice Needed - Maintenance

Hi, I have a surge brake system on my 1075 BIOD. Unusual trailer, unsual (to me) brakes. I've been looking online for a breakdown on this system, but have come up dry. Is there someone out there who has worked on this type of system and can tell me what my troubleshooting/maintenance regimen should be? Any pictures or reference to sites would be greatly appreciated.

Remember Google is your friend.
I just did a quick search for surge brakes maintenance and saw lots of stuff about surge breaks.

Agreed, but there's nothing specific to this one here. And my biggest fear is that I start pulling it apart without knowing what to do. I have watched the videos to understand the concepts but it's still a Big Mystery to me!

surge brakes are more common on boat trailers

thjey are really very simple, the hitch pushes on a master cylinder, and the brakes are hydraulic, just like on a car. maintenance is just like on an older car with drum brakes... flush the brake fluid periodically (annually?), inspect the shoes, adjust the star wheel as needed.
