Norm,

We traveled about 300 miles today at 55-65 mph. The 5.4 V8 Expedition/LIL Snoozy is doing 15 mph according to the vehicle computer. This is better than I expected. Most of the way was on 2 lane roads with 30 miles of interstate and maybe 50 miles in the mountains. This is about the same as my Ranger with the V6.

2013 Escape 19' towed with 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Gas mileage up to 25 impg not towing and typically 15 to 17 impg towing, much of it through mountainous terrain. Mostly drive from 60 to 75 mph, depending on roads and conditions. Tracked mileage over most of a year on the following figure. Easy to guess which was towing and which was not.

2013 Subaru Crosstrek, 2.0L 5spd manual.

1973 Boler 1300 Empty

My Subaru gets 7.2L/100kms avg (32.6mpg) with winter tires (as with trailer results)

Towing:

100km/h over the Coquihalla Summit from Kamloops to Vancouver island 12.4L/100kms (19mpg)

Around the Island doing 80km/h
9.8L/100kms (24mpg)

Both results based on only two drives so far

If I'm reading that correctly, your 15-17 mpg towing is also Imperial gallons, right?

Correct (impg was indicated). Mileage was less when you look at the USmpg figure.

Trailer and Tow Vehicle Combinations

Though we have a small sampling of the whole membership, I find it interesting to see a broader picture of members' tow vehicle/trailer choices. Toyota followed by Ford are the overwhelming tow vehicle favorites so far.

We are happy to get partial information. Certified numbers are not required. We are happy with ball park information. Also most responses do not include every category. Some people have upgraded their information with time.

Trailer and Tow Vehicle Combinations

I have added two more categories, misc information and manf. tow rating.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...6oSPkw/pubhtml

We are happy to get partial information. Certified numbers are not required. We are happy with ball park information. Also most responses do not include every category. Some people have upgraded their information with time.

Tow Vehicle:
Engine:
Trailer:
Trailer weight:
Tongue Weigh:
Mpg towing:
Mpg not towing:
Typical towing speed:
Misc: (adding things like wd, sway, air bags)
Manf. Tow rating (trailer weight/hitch weight)

I know some people did list their manf tow rating. I'll go back thru the postings to get those tonight.

Thank You for the additional information.

I am sure that others will find it helpful when they are wondering if a well recommended vehicle currently towing a 13' Scamp, will also tow, say, a heavier trailer such as a 21' BigFoot etc.
