Towing a TAB 400 with a Ford F-150

We are looking to purchase a TAB 400 trailer to tow with our 3.7L, 6 cyl. 2012 Ford F-150XL with 6 1/2 ft bed. The truck can tow a maximum of 5,500 lb. The TAB 400 maximum wet wt would be 3613 lb with all 3 tanks full. If we carried a 2nd propane tank, then the tongue wt would increase to 425 lb, which would be 12% of the total load of the trailer. The maximum payload capacity for this truck is 1,710 lb, so we could carry an additional 800 lb of excess gear, but not sure how close to maximum payload is advisable!

Being new to RVing, I'm not sure what type of trailer hitch to have installed. Also, not sure if I should have a transmission cooler and/or sway bar (single friction) installed. And lastly, would a Timbren "suspension enhancement system" for weight distribution be beneficial?

don't forget driver and passenger(s) count as payload in the truck.

I'm seeing the Tab 400 has a GAWR: 3,500 Lbs, and max hitch weight of 460 lbs, so way I figure, thats 3940 lbs GWR... between bedding, clothes, towels, food, beverages, its real easy to come out a lot heavier than you might think.

I'd skip any WDH type system until you've towed it a couple times and see how it rides. if the front of the truck is 'pitchy' when you go over bumps, then you might want a WDH. or if the rear of the truck sags too much when you drop the hitch weight on.

btw, T@B's are not considered molded fiberglass, they are framed and skinned like a conventional 'stick built'.
