Real trucks? Full size? I can almost guarantee they have metal dashboards.

Also, my 83 Toyota had a solid front axle. Drove like a tank. I miss the truck, but not the ride the front axle provided.

Memories. I drove a 65 GMC panel truck from Orlando to LA in '72 for a friend. On Rabbit Ears Pass on US 40 the tranny went. I was 18 and had tools. Went to a Craig junkyard for a new-to-me 3 on the tree and continued the journey.

Went back finally last fall and well Steamboat looks a little different yet still a lot of great camping. Favorite was just below the Rabbit Ears.

🤔 I don’t know, must really be missing something here. I bought my first truck 40 years ago, my 2016 2.7 Ecoboost F150 is my 5th pickup. 2 Chevys and 2 GMCs, previously owned, all with bigger motors. The F150 hands down the best truck I have ever owned. Rides better, more powerful (2 of my previous trucks where v8), better tow, and more economical too. Can’t think of a single thing I miss, not even the clutch. This is the first vehicle I’ve owned in 54 years of driving that doesn’t have 1.

I just got rid of a Chevy 2500 after years of great driving....bought a new Ram 1500 with a hemi....both do an excellent job pulling my trailers. I consider them both full size pick ups. If you consider a 1/2 ton less than full size....one suggestion would be to drop two Viagra's in the gas tank....the truck will become full size but a word of caution....if it remains full size for more than 4 hrs....you may need to take it to a mechanic.

Its a full size SUV, based on the full size Chev pickup frame and running gear.
Yes.
Just like a 1500 is a full size pickup.
Should be no problem with that definition

This post in response to the one that asked if a Tahoe is full sized.
Just to avoid confusion with the placement of this post.

You guys are really having cabin fever arguing over full size. LOL

Load limits

Once, when I lived in Florida, I was driving on a one lane, two rutted road. I came up behind a pickup with a shell camper installed. After a minute or so, he started slowing down, and got slower and slower, until he stopped completely. The driver jumped out of the cab, ran back, and started whacking the camper shell with a stick. He then jumped back in the cab, and took off at a pretty good speed. After a few minutes, he started slowing down again, until he came to a full stop. He repeated his actions of jumping out and beating on the camper with a stick,. Jumping back in, again he took off at a good speed. When the whole thing happened again, as he jumped out of his truck to beat on the camper, I jumped out too, and asked him what the problem was, he turned to me and said, “Well, this is a 1/2 ton pickup, and I’m hauling a ton of canaries. If I can’t keep at least half of them in the air, I can’t make any headway.”

Well my Samurai MUST be a truck because it has hauled kitchen ranges, laundry machines, water heaters, refrigerators, dirt, bricks, scooters, 12ft carpet roll, and anything else that will fit in/on weighing under 500#. Also tows my 1000# Mity-Lite camp trailer.....all with 1.3l engine. Doesn't do so well towing up mountain passes, even get passed by old VW Westphalia campers, but downhill will pass everybody 😨😨

Reminds me of Crocodile Dundee:
“THAT’S not a truck... THIS is a truck!”

I’m loving this thread. .

It seems like any truck that is smaller than yours is not a full-sized truck. Does that mean an F250 is not a full sized truck in the eyes of an F350 dually owner???

8 bolts + solid front axle + clutch = real truck. Got it!

Er, what kind of clutch? A lot of the automatic trannies are now billed as dual-clutch.

I'm not a real truck taxonomist, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express one time.

Going back to the original post, I agree that more truck is generally better for towing. The real question is how much truck is enough. It’s easy when you already have a work truck that you also use for pleasure.
But if you need to trade up from a car in order to get into the RV lifestyle, how much do you buy? Especially if it’s part time RVing and the truck will also be your daily driver.

Here's the easy way to make clear which post you're referencing. Hit the "quote" button instead of the "reply" button.

Oh it doesn't take cabin fever to get us arguing about ridiculous things, you can believe that! Stick around.

I don't want to give the impression that I use my work truck for pleasure. I was, for a few days there, abusing my work truck privileges because my personal truck was at the shop and I needed to move the trailer.

My situation is owning a truck slightly undersized for my trailer, but the inability financially, and unwillingness philosophically, to go any bigger. For now. I love my truck. I'm well within my truck's towing limits, but when I'm loaded with all my gear, somewhere around 100 or so pounds over the payload limit. So pulling with that...uh..full-size (?) truck was nice. So I wrote a song about it. I mean I wrote a post about it.
