And I assume so did those trailers of which I've seen accident pictures laying on their side (including the tow vehicle). One pic was on a curve. Brakes can overheat and fail if weights aren't correct.

If you are driving too fast around a curve, brakes will not help you. I suspect improperly loaded trailer.
